1 word reviews, no matter how positive, are considered abusive. This has around 11 pages with a ton of 1 word in between ranging from COOL to ... to :D:D:D:D:D:D::

I remember asking 5 mods about one-word reviews a while back. Of the 2 that responded... well, see for yourself:

Are one word reviews (like this guy's review for 'Tax Time') abusive?

Aloha Sheizenhammer, to answer your question I feel these type of reviews are frowned upon and completely useless but I wouldn't consider it abusive unless the reviewer is making a habit of one-worded review i.e. ranking high in reviews.

But hey, if you do happen to find a reviewer with a habit of making one-worded reviews, give us a shout and we'll give him/her a friendly reminder. ;-)

Cheers.

In my opinion, yes. If you don't have the time to leave more than at least a few sentences, your review isn't very helpful. Although not as big of an abuse as insulting the author or advertising, etc, I personally delete single word reviews often. Even a single sentence, to me, is not enough. But different review mods really handle situations differently.

...I got one 'yes' and one 'no'. So no, they're not considered definite abuse, especially when you look at the stuff in the review answers thread concerning one-word reviews.

Reviews that don't have any words at all in them (like the silly ascii-art smiley face one) are another matter, but as long as there's one coherent word in it, it's not immediate whistle-fodder in and of itself.

I got this, and as well learned from, EJR. It was on his list.
